Cross-mentoring for executives and trainee executives
February 15, 2010
09.03.2010 marks the start of the 8th Cross-Mentoring programme run by bremer arbeit gmbh and only
a few places are still available. With its inter-industry programme, whereby executives place their
knowledge and experience at the disposal of men and women who will make up the next generation of
managers, bremer arbeit offers those responsible for human resources in companies a stimulating and
successful instrument for personnel development. Since 2006, small and medium-sized enterprises
have been taking part just as much as major industrial companies. Throughout the entire Northwest
region and across all branches of industry, more than 150 executives and up-and-coming employees,
start-up entrepreneurs and project leaders have taken part in the tandem programme. Cross-mentoring
works according to a simple principle: an experienced professional or manager (mentor) advises and
supports a less experienced person (mentee) from a different company - for instance a motivated
trainee or potential manager - in his or her professional and personal development. The goal is
always to make the mentees as fit as possible in everyday management and to back them up in the
concrete problems they face with tried-and-tested solutions. The time required each month for
mentees is 3-4 hours, and mentors spend 2-3 hours a month on the collaboration. The costs for the
entire year lie at 1,500 euros + 19%. If companies would like to further their employees through
this programme, they should contact bremer arbeit gmbh.
